I am new to this list and have questions for the experts on this list
although not pertaining directly to firewalls. My company (2500 users) is
interested in implementing an email and web content filtering solution. The
justification is to help protect against our company's confidential and
proprietary information from leaking out through email (a continuing
problem). We also have problems with employees surfing inappropriate
websites and management is worried about possible legal implications.
I am currently looking at a few different products including Elron's Message
Inspector and Internet Manager; SessionWall-3, and Norton's I-Gear and Mail
Gear. Do any of you have experience with these or other products? The
obvious question is which of these or another product is better in terms of
ease of implementation, maintenance, and effectiveness?
Currently, I am relying on rules I have implemented on our intrusion
detection systems, and firewall logs to perform this function, but as may
well know these are not optimized for this. Any helpful info would be
appreciated. Please...no flame responses concerning the moral right or
wrong of content filtering...I have already lost that battle. My role is to
determine the best technology and implement it.
