Depending on how they need to connect the T-1 to your phone
system you may not need a channel bank, and channel banks are expensive.
We do the same thing using a Drop/Add CSU/DSU. It has a V.35 connection
on the back for the router and a DSX-1 connection for the phone system.
We peel off several channels for voice and send the rest to the router.
The router will need a V.35 type interface and the Drop/Add csu/dsu will
connect to that. Any router with a high speed serial link will do. And
if you are only going to peel off 128k for data, then even an RS-232 speed
link will work, although V.35 is preferred.
Almost any router will work. Cisco's will do compression on the 128K link
and get a nice speed boost, but there are others that will also do that.
The choice of router is more based on the services you need to do across
the WAN.
