You need to decide whether you will be going with hardware-based VPN and
software-based.
I recommend hardware. Their are a large list of great providers out there. Ones
we are currently looking at are the people over at RapidStream. They use custom
designed ASIC processors, where each processor handles a different function
within the VPN.  (1) Crypto, (2) Compression, etc, etc..
Also, you might want to check out Compatible Systems (www.comaptible.com).. 
as well as Redcreek (www.redcreek.com), and Internet Devices
(www.internetdevices.com)
I've setup many Extranet VPNs across the United States to British Columbia. So
I guess you can take my oppinions with confidence.
