Prepare to inavde UNTEC.CO.ZA!! All ports on SPAM and SPOOF!!! Full PING
AHEAD!!

Seriously,
Programming languages I have found to be useless. Noone really need
to know C++ to setup a firewall. UNIX language..sure just for the shear sake
of configuring Checkpoint FW-1 on a box or perhaps a LINUX box.

How to learn about security:
1. Join a list(your off to a great start!)
2. Read, Read, Read, Read..buy books thats a fantastic way to pickup info.
WWW.KNOWCISCO.COM has some excellent security related material. The lady who
wrote one of thos books has been in the biz for many a year and is reliable
info.
3. Either buy some software, download, borrow, etc. and just set it up and
play with it. Get a dummy PC and install it and try to break it...that's why
I am an engineer I love to do that stuff!
4. Take Cisco's CCNA Class's for starters a router can be used as an
effective firewall and security device if placed correctly. Also It will
help you understand more about IPSEC in general.
5. Ask questions..about anything.

"Layer 4 and up is for End Users"
                                 -Anonymous CCNA
