Ronneil,

#Sorry about this question. Would you rate ipfilter for Openbsd as a
totally
#good firewall assuming rules were applied correctly?

I would rate IPFilter on OpenBSD as better that the AIX firewall for these
reasons.

1. OpenBSD has incredibly good engineers doing security reviews on the
code so the box is less susceptible to OS hacks. I also believe they do
security reviews on the IPFilter code as well.

2. There is better documentation and help channels (IMHO) for IPFilter
than the AIX soluction.

3. It is MUCH cheaper. It's *BSD. It supports open source developement.

If you want to go with OpenBSD instead get the "Building Linux and OpenBSD
Firewalls" book.

#Are there any other firewall for AIX? I was asking the IBM guy a while ago
#that the real name of the firewall is Firewall. I was really confused with
#this. Although, it's not an issue. It could really be Firewall. And how
#come, I asked him if it supports stateful packet inspection and he
answered
#me yes, is it true?

The only firewall for AIX that I know of is the IBM AIX Firewall. I do not
believe that they are doing much developement on it any more either.

Regards,
Jeffery Gieser
