Hi Jason -
Well, I deal with tracking down viruses and trojans all day long,
and this one pretty much stumped me, so you're not alone in having
difficulty. None of the major anti-virus vendors seem to have Deadbolt in
their encyclopedias, as you hopefully already know. I did end up finding a
few references to the trojan, though none of them particularly informative.
The following came the closest to being helpful:

http://www.moosoft.com/deadbolt.php

These links made mention of the trojan, but provided no details that I could
find. You may want to try digging further on these sites:
http://www.ets.it/lockdown/us/trojansdetected.html
http://www.nohack.net/cleaner.html
http://www.ge.infn.it/~bianconi/virus/avp/avp20000609.htm
But checking out Kaspersky's AVP.com (the parent of the above-linked
newsletter), produced no references to deadbolt or Dead Bolt

hope that helps...

Regards -

Melissa

Subject: Waa Off Topic... But seriously need help! :P

Hello there,

I need some information on a trojan horse. Doing a research project for
school.

Information I need:

Trojan - W32/Deadbolt.Trojan

What is the payload of this virus/trojan?

How can this virus/trojan be removed?

        What does this virus/trojan do?

When was this virus/trojan created or known to the public?

If possible that would assist me greatly.. I've looked everywhere , cant
find anything...
Or provide links that I could obtain the information from.

:)
