I have ipchains on a linux box Kernal 2.2.12-20  set up rather tight and a netopia 
router (r3100-I)

the Linux box is performing network address translation a and send mail is forwarding 
email to our internal email server.

We recently had several network analyst come in and review our setup.
One of the reccomendations is to drop the Linux box
