G'day again folks,

Okay, I admit I phrased my earlier message poorly. Including the word
"opinion" was a big mistake. What I was hoping might come of this would be
a useful resource for those of us not at the "high-end" of the security tree
(I definitely don't regard myself as a security guru).

I realise that the two questions I included are not the ones to be answered,
but they are what we often see on this list. If a single site (or detailed
FAQ) could be built to help (in particular) newcomers, that'd have to be
good for all concerned.

If nothing else, a couple of links have been posted in various replies which
I'm sure some of the list members were unaware of.

Might I be so bold as to make a second suggestion? Too late, here it is...

On the sun-managers' list, a brief FAQ is posted regularly (every
two weeks) to specifically reduce the number of "common questions"
and the inevitable "RTFM" or "read the FAQ" replies/flames. What
do the list members of such a message being sent every "so often"?

Ciao.
