The default port is 2401, but this is site specific config.

you need to do the following on the CVS server, or ask someone
who has access to the server:

# grep cvs /etc/inetd.conf
cvpserver ......
#grep cvpserver /etc/services
cvpserver    2401/tcp ..
...
