Greetings, Owning a LinkSys BEFSR41 EtherFast Cable/DSL Router (NAT/firewall), and seeing these units discussed at length on various distro lists regarding their ease of use and convenience for SOHO situations - I thought I would let everyone know of a bug that I found. Its a simple bug, but not being of the router/firewall hacking mindset, I do not know what to do or where to go from here. But anyway, here is my find that is infinitely re-creatable in my environment: If you FTP from behind the firewall to the external IP address of the firewall which has been configured to forward port 21 traffic to another IP behind the firewall, the unit will crash/hang. FTP client(s): Bullet Proof FTP v1.21 and/or Internet Explorer 5.5 FTP server(s): Vermillion FTP Daemon and/or IIS 4 The only way to alter its crash/hang state is to press the reset button or power cycle the unit. No, this isn't the result of some sort of hack attack, but an innocent finding while attempting to test an internal network FTP server. This is where my knowledge ends and I drop the ball. Anyone care to pick it up from here or at least confirm my findings? -------------------- Micheal Espinola Jr - [To unsubscribe, send mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with "unsubscribe firewalls" in the body of the message.]
