Hi,
Your client machine at home will need to know where to get the master
browser list from. WINS is supposed to contain this information (16th
netbios character) about all nodes in it's database, however I have had
issues with it before. You can statically put an entry into your lmhosts,
stating where the master browser list is held:
X.X.X.X PDC #PRE #DOM:DOMAIN
X.X.X.X "DOMAIN \0x1b" #pre
the second line is a bit different - there must be exactly 16 characters
between the quotes - fill it with the correct number of spaces to bring ot
to sixteen (as above).
Put these 2 lines in your lmhosts, leave 2 lines blank at the end, save the
file, nbtstat -R, nbtstat -c. Now, your machine knows where to get the
browser list for DOMAIN.
Brett.

Subject: Securemote and Network neighbourhood
: Greetings
: I have configured Securemote on a Nokia 330
: with FWZ as my encrypton and Radius as authentication.
: I am able to create a site, exchange keys, get
: authenticated by the Radius server and even use
: PcAnywhere to gain access to the machines there.
: Although I am able to use net use successfully,
: network neighourhood fails. I followed the docu
: (below) on the phoneboy site, but still no luck. MY
: LMHOSTS file is correct. My WINS servers are NATed and
: I have A NAT rule for preventing NBT services to be
: NATED. Can someone pl. guide me.? Thx in advance.

: Q:
: How can I browse my intranet's Network Neighborhood
: from home via SecuRemote?
: A:To insure that NetBIOS Name Resolution happens
: correctly, you will need either a WINS server on your
: internal network. A well-populated LMHOSTS file
: containing names of all your NetBIOS-capable systems
: will also work for the purposes of connecting to a
: specific host by NetBIOS, but the
: "NetworkNeighborhood" functionality requires WINS.
: Your SecuRemote client will then need to be configured
: to use this WINS server for name resolution. If your
: internal network uses illegal or private network
: addresses, you will need to use the "Encapsulate
: SecuRemote Connections" option in the encryption tab
: of
: the FireWall object if using FWZ or use ISAKMP for
: this to work. Also, make sure your WINS server is not
: subject to any address translation as this will also
: cause an issue, or at least make sure the NBT group of
: services is not subject to NAT (thanks to Bruce Cheng
: for the tip).
