One of our NT4/SP6 DMZ servers showed this NT log entry several times over
the last few days.
"The server was unable to add the virtual root '/IISSAMPLES' for the
directory 'C:\InetPub\ftproot\tj\iissamples' due to the following error: The
system cannot find the path specified. The data is the error code."
I recall that one old NT attack method was to access sample code provided by
MS in order to transfer files, etc. Knowing this, we had removed this
directory. But I really don't know what the message above implies -- that
someone was trying to access something in a non-existent directory or (as
the text implies) trying to create that directory.
Can anyone shed some light on what might be happening?
TIA
Harry
