Multicasting to Firewall-1

Basic multicast question here, if I ping any arbitrary multicast address from a box connected to a switch, shouldn't every local server attached to that switch see the packet?  I am not asking if they would accept it, they are not part of the group, I am just asking if the NIC will get the packet.  I am trying that and the checkpoint firewall I have on the switch never receives a packet.           i.e.     ping  224.0.6.1
