Virus vendors will always be behind. If a week or even a day, the
damage can be done before AV software is able to detect and prevent
it.

Ahh... preventing. Instead of running the behind the leaky programs
on the desktop and relying on AV software, how about preventing the
programs to enter corporate desktops in the first place? I mean, it's
not like those are the employees personal PC's, right? Those are your
PC, they belong to the company. You have the power of giving them
applications and preventing other programs from being run/installed.
Lock down the desktops, scan their email, prevent them from
downloading apps from the web or FTP, put a stop to IM programs that
deliver software, try to prevent them from executing apps on the
desktops, except approved ones.

It all comes down to restrictions. Don't chase the goose, prevent it
from entering.

Regards,
Frank
