Proxying, as in an application layer gateway, has nothing to do with the OS,
it's concerned with the application layer protocol (eg HTTP, SMTP, POP3).
 
It's like asking if windows will allow a better HTTP implementation than
Linux will. Neither windows nor Linux has anything to do with the HTTP
implementation, that's up to the application being used.

Thanks, Also If a firewall has proprietory OS, can it still complete
proxying just as well as a firewall on say linux or Windows.
