Hello All We have a customer who finds VPN-1/SecuRemote performance very poor. SecuRemote build 4174 DES on Win98. VPN-1 on Nokia box, v 4.1, SP1(?). They are copying files etc. between clients and NT file server using NT shares. Dial-up or ADSL access for clients, at 32 - 64 Kbps; 64 Kbps leased line to ISP at central site - so I don't expect great speed, but maybe something better than 1 Kbyte/second! I did some sniffing on the server LAN at the central site, and saw multiple retransmissions which were consistent with the client not seeing ACKs and data from the server. Using FTP for file transfer gave much better performance with no retransmissions - so looks like some kind of timeout in the Windows remote file access at the client end. Sniffing the client dial-up link showed nothing much (because, of course, it's encrypted), except that max. frame size seemed to be around 650 bytes. ICMP ping times through the VPN are 150 - 250 ms. I spent hours searching newsgroup archives, Check Point and Microsoft sites etc and found that several others have reported these problems but no-one seems to have a solution. Does anyone know any way to modify the relevant time-outs, or indeed if there's some other way to get this working a bit better? Many thanks John ******************************************************************* This e-mail and any attachments have been automatically screened for viruses by Atrium Communications Ltd. ******************************************************************** - [To unsubscribe, send mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with "unsubscribe firewalls" in the body of the message.]
