DC should be using tcp/ip and wintel clients will communicate via NetBT
(Netbios over tcp/ip). Although you may have NetBEUI installed as well.
NETBT should be tightly controlled on a DMZ, if allowed at all. what app is
running on the solaris/linux machine that needs access to the domain
controller? in my little mind, that would dictate the transport and apper
layer protocols required to communicate between the hosts.

Subject: NetBEUI between DMZ and LAN

Hello all,

Suppose that MS Windows domain controller is running on LAN,
and a specific application is running on a server, which resides
on DMZ.

Question is that how can the server communicate/consult with
domain controller? Are they using NetBEUI protocol?
Based on the info on domain controller, users will be authenticated or
rejected.

FYI, I'm using WatchGuard firewall, and the app server is Linux (or Solaris)
platform.
(Of course, DC is Windows :-)

Any comment or advice welcome. Thank you in advance.
