If you have the skills, you could write a perl script that grabs the MAC
address table from switches or routers. SNMP will get the tables for you if
you have the MIBs. A former co-worker had such a script that was very
handy. We could search for IP address or MAC address in all of the class B
or within subsections.

You could need a sniffer tools. You could use NetXRay or even if you are
running a NT box you could use network monitor running in promiscuos mode.
With NetXRay you can do a lot of useful things, as create a "host book" that
records everything about your host as MAC, IP Address, IPX Adress, NetBeui
Name, etc using and autodiscovering tool.
i hope this help.
bye

Hi
I need to know if there is tool which lets me find the location of a host
based on its mac address. the MAC need not be bound to the IP stack and its
location is on a campus wide LAN.
TIA
Vikram
