Eliyah,
Your sendmail server does need DNS. Otherwise, it cannot recieve or
deliver mail properly. A Sendmail server will do a forward and reverse
lookup on the other mail server that it is receiving mail from to make sure
the server is who it says it is. It will also need to check MX records
when it attempts to send outgoing mail. It also needs DNS to resolve the
host names placed in your mailertable. Read "Sendmail" from O'Reilly.
