The PPP RFC(1661) was written by a Network Working Group (In fact, The
Point-to-Point Protocol Working Group of The IETF), chaired by Fred
Baker, who was with Advanced Computer Communications. It was edited by
William Simpson, who worked for Computer Systems Consulting Services.
There is no mention of Microsoft anywhere in the RFC
