Hi tim,
thanx for the info...but recently i came to know of something else which
i suspect to be the cause of the problem...its not mail looping. In
mixed mode where you have exchange 2000 and 5.5 both, the SRS stores the
messages in the information store before copying it in the directory
(AD) thus increasing the log files....something of this sort...but i m
not sure. I m now upgrading all server to E2k and then trigger native
mode. Decommission ADC server and delete SRS .
I'll post my observations
regds

Madhur,
I suspect that the problem may be tied to a problem where a user who
subscribed to a list has left the organization. After leaving the
listserver is still sending email messages to the user in the
organization
and the message is being ndred. The listserver then sends the ndr to
the
list and so on.
Another cause is a user who has turned a automatic rule on for a
vacation
notice, the listserver and the rule are simply banging away at each
other.
To get to the bottom of this, I would suggest one of the following:
1) Turn on message tracking on the servers and do advanced tracking to
see
all the messages transferred into this server. You will probably see a
large number of entries from the same originator. That will be your
first
tip.
2) Stop the Exchange services on the hub and then copy a number of the
transaction logs to another location (4 or 5 files). Then edit them
with
notepad. Scroll through or search for "undeliverable". If you see this
several times in each log file, you will know why the logs are filling
up.
No matter which way you determine the offending sender, you can stop the
onslaught by applying a recipient filter policy in E2k based on the
sender's
domain or complete address.
I hope this helps. If you need more help, let me know.
Tim

Subject: Exchange 2000
Hi Folks,
I m facing a very peculiar problem, i seek help from all exchange 2000
gurus. In my pilot i simulated multiple exchange 5.5 site architechure.
I installed one ADC server and established CA with all sites for
mailbox, public folder and custom recipients. The tested this on a hub
and spoke model. After upgrading my hub site and few of other sites i
see log files getting generated in HUB bridgehead server very rapidly. I
m not able to resolve it and only option is frequent backups to clear of
log files. Has anyone come across this and any tips , i doubt mail
looping, ADC CAs or may SRS ( as i have two servers running SRS in my
hub site)....
any pointers and tips are welcome
TIA
Madhur
