I have completed and passed the GIAC Intrusion detection course. The
course is fairly good but the certification is excellent. It requires quite a
bit of detailed work to achieve. First a written exam that asks for analysis in
depth of various topics, then online multiple choice exams to determine mastery
of TCP/IP and the particular topic.
The course is not necessary for the exam but it covers it well. Look at
the curriculum for the security essentials track at the SANS web site and see if
you understand each topic well. If you have any trouble, then take the
course.

Subject: GIAC CoursesHi all,
Has anyone completed any of the GIAC courses. I am considering doing them to obtain certification in the security field, but I want to know if its worth while. The price is pretty steep and I have to travel to get to the destination as well. The first one that I would attend would either be the "Security Essentials" or Auditing Networks.
Thanks
Mark
