Netscreen claims that if you forget/lose the root password, you must send
the unit back to have the password reset. This makes me unhappy on general
principles -- I *like* being able to reset a password at 2am.

When this happened to us, I personally drove the unit down to their office
(I'm only about an hour away). A Tech Support person met me, took the
unit, and returned it in about 10 minutes. It was the same unit, with
configuration -- other than the password -- intact.

This suggests to me that it's not a situation where you actually have to,
say, replace EEPROM, but rather an actual procedure, involving either
changing jumpers or work within the diag mode of the box.

Has anyone figured this out yet?
