While you didn't include the line, my guess would be that somewhere along
that line, you've negelected to close a delimiter or have some other
syntactical error. From the MAN page:

A rule must fit on a single line.  The length of a line      varies by
operating system, but is generally around 1,024       bytes. There is no
provision for continuing lines.
