Gordon,

1)If you have trouble loading policies, you can first try to unload it with
#fw unload localhost.

2)To install new package (FW 4.1, or NG), go to your Nokia Console, and excute:

#/etc/newpkg

and then go to voyager / manage installed package / turn the right package on / apply

3) what HA solution are you thinking about?

Hi all,
Pardon the long pre-amble, but I thought it may be useful to anyone else in
the same position ...

It seems my problems (reported here last week) regarding the change of
IP440 + FW-1 from a "standalone" environment to a "distributed" environment
boil down to exactly that !
I have re-applied for my CP licences to allow me to mount my mgmt server on
a third platform and thereby set up a stateful failover between my two
IP440s, but having done so I cannot communicate between the mgmnt server
and the firewall to load a policy.

The problem is that I can no longer "fwstart" the firewall as it goes into
a loop looking for its policy on "localhost".
This, it seems, is due to the fact that the firewall was installed as
"standalone" and I cannot find anyway to change this other than
re-install....

So my question is, how do you re-install FW-1 on a IP440 ??? I have the
Nokia CD with FW-1 on, but how do you invoke it ?

Thanks, Gordon
