Picking two completely disparate products and trying to compare them isn't
a good way to choose a firewall.

1. Figure out what your security policy is going to be.

2. Figure out what performance, maintenance. features and
    support you require.

3. Figure out your budget.

4. Find products/projects that can enforce 1, claim to have 2, and fit
    within 3.

5. Search for archives of people having trouble with products that
match 4 and remove the ones that look bad.

6. Check the stability and longevity prospects of the companies left
if you're looking at commercial products.

7a. Acquire and test the top 3 remaining candidates OR
7b. Find consultants well-versed in the top 3 candidates and interview
them if they're going to do the installation.

Don't forget that multiple firewalls of differing types for different
parts of an organization may be approprite and plan accordingly.

My current employer produces a Buyer's Guide which can help with step 4
for commercial products, more information can be found at:

Getting a copy requires registering as far as I recall. The link to the
guide is on the left. If you check the lab notes for the firewall
testing/certification program, they can sometimes be enlightening and may
also assist with step 5.

Network Computing, and other technology magazines also do reviews.
