I have a PIX firewall and need to use WS_FTP to connect to a remote FTP server. The machine I'm using is on the inside interface, and I'm using PAT. I can connect to most FTP servers fine in PASV mode, but I'm having trouble with one particular server. I've tested that PASV mode works from outside the firewall, but I cannot get it to work from the inside. As far as I can tell WS_FTP is passing the inside address to the remote FTP server, and when WS_FTP then tries to connect to the FTP server on the port it has specified the connection fails as the FTP server (CuteFTP) is expecting a connection to that port from the inside IP address, not the PAT address the PIX is passing the connection through. I don't want to use a static NAT for this one machine, but I need to find a way to get the FTP transfer working. The admin of the remote FTP server says it's not their problem as they can use PASV fine, and I can use it from outside the PIX, so it's my problem.
So the question is can the outside PAT address be configured in WS_FTP (LE or Pro) so that when it's passed to the FTP server it will be listening for the correct incoming IP? I couldn't find anything about this in the WS_FTP docs, just some info about configuring a connection to a proxy. Dan --- D.C.
