Use the pieces you like from many different sources.

I tend to use Postfix for SMTP, either http-gw or apache in proxy mode 
(http-gw if I need active content filtering.) and an assortment of other 
stuff.  If you need authentication accross services, then it's probably 
better to move to a commercial solution.
