SonicWalls do bridging - at least they do between DMZ and external network. Plus they bridge or (optionally) do hiding NAT and 1:1 NAT between internal and external/DMZ. No other NAT options. This way you need a 1:1 NAT for every box you want to access from the DMZ. But this implies that you need an official (external) address for each and every box you want to access from the DMZ (e.g. CRM or database systems, management servers, etc.). Other examples of bridging firewalls include Lucent Bricks - or any properly configured OpenBSD and Linux system. The latter two can do either and both of bridging/routing firewall, depending on configuration. http://www.linuxgazette.com/issue76/whitmarsh.html http://homepages.goldsmiths.ac.uk/veghead/wot/openbsd.html Bye Volker -- ------------------------------------------------------------------- [EMAIL PROTECTED] discon GmbH IT-Security Consulting Wrangelstrasse 100 http://www.discon.de/ 10997 Berlin, Germany ------------------------------------------------------------------- PGP-Fingerprint: 5323 a4f7 a7c2 b8ef 4653 05ce d2ea 2b74 b94c c68e _______________________________________________ Firewalls mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://lists.gnac.net/mailman/listinfo/firewalls
