Last year, I tried shooting about 250 random ARP packets per second at 
an fw-1 on solaris, and it started spewing messages about halloc failing 
on the console with the expected increase in CPU load. And, yes, that 
one also flooded its log queue.

At that time, my solution was "don't do pain tests on the poor box". 
Maybe this problem is also ARP related?

(Yes, this was the same checkpoint-installed fw-1 that later that
evening decided to ignore its license file and give a whole new 
meaning to the phrase "electronic highway").
