The PIX 501 is very similar to the other PIX models.  It uses the same firmware
(from 6.1(2) up).  Unlike most of the other modern PIX models it is limited in
the number of inside hosts (10 or 50 hosts depending on licensing) it
supports.  It is also limited to 5 VPN tunnels and its interfaces are limited
to 10 Mbps.  I believe the PIX 501 has a 133 MHz CPU.  In practice it seems
very similar to the PIX 506 and appears to be well suited to small networks
with a limited number of inside hosts.
