i thought about that too. one thing i came up with, which i don't really like though, is that () also contains a new scope and hence this works: true (set -lx DISPLAY :93.0; xlogo) so i wondered, why not allow () in place of a command? the reason i don't like it is, it breaks symmetry in the syntax, since every other block constructing element is a command, this would now be the exception. it would also make fish look more like lisp which i am not sure is a good idea. (even though i like lisp because of its rather minimalist syntax) greetings, martin. -- cooperative communication with sTeam - caudium, pike, roxen and unix offering: programming, training and administration - anywhere in the world -- pike programmer travelling and working in europe open-steam.org unix system- bahai.or.at iaeste.(tuwien.ac|or).at administrator (caudium|gotpike).org is.schon.org Martin Bähr http://www.iaeste.or.at/~mbaehr/ ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Using Tomcat but need to do more?
