I belive Troy meant the greeting which is printed once when fish
starts up, not the command prompt.

To configure the greeting message, update the value of the
$fish_greeting variable. For example, if you want to be greeted by the
message 'Hello', use the command

set fish_greeting Hello

If you want total silence, use

set fish_greeting

Do not erase the fish_greeting varaible, though. Doing so will cause
it to be assigned the default value by the init scripts on your next
startup

But you are completely correct that 'help fish_prompt' should work,
though. To the todo list!
