Using fish version 1.22.3 from Debian 1.22.3-3
The complete --erase command does not seem to work:
complete | grep vim | tail -n 1
complete --exclusive --command vim --arguments
\(__fish_complete_suffix\ .gz\)
complete -e -c vim
complete | grep vim | tail -n 1
complete --exclusive --command vim --arguments
\(__fish_complete_suffix\ .gz\)
On a closely related note I feel that the vim completions are too limiting.
The darcs repository version limits the completion to mime text and mime
gz. The 1.22.3 version is worse as it limits to .gz files.
I use vim for a wide range of files, many without extensions and
occasionally binary files. I suspect that other people do the same.
So I suggest that the vim completions simply be removed and any file
type be listed for opening.
Just for fun I have tried to send a trivial darcs patch that deletes
these lines.
