Hello!

I've just found the question [1] on ubuntuforums.org.

<message>
installed the fish shell..its really cool
but it seems i cant view the exit code of the last command run

    echo $?
    returns the following message
    fish: The '$' character begins a variable name. The character "",
which directly followed a '$', is not allowed as a part of a variable
name, and variable names may not be zero characters long. To learn
more about variable expansion in fish, type "help expand-variable".

so how can i view the exit code in fish ??
</message>

I've tried searching mail list archive and documentation. Couldn't
find anything... Is it possible to find out exit status?
