As far as I know Bash supports multi-line editing as well. (see e.g. 
http://www.talug.org/events/20030709/cmdline_history.html) And to be honest, 
even if Bash did not it, this would not be my top priority anyway. Why not use 
an editor to do multi-line editing!?

This is a good point to add. I will add it.

Bash supports tab-completion too (see Isaac's mail).
