I downloaded the default tar.gz and 
installed that and now everything seems 
to be fine, previously I was using Ben 
Hoskings OS X version from github 
(that's not to say there's a problem 
with that version as  previously it 
worked perfectly).

I'm not sure what triggered my problems 
but my machine seems to be doing odd 
things these days, maybe time to get a 
new one.
