begin; sleep 10; and echo "beep"; end works in my version, but appending '&' does not change the behaviour.
I thought, that this was due to the fact that "begin;" was parsed before "&", so I tried to "cheat" by using "eval": eval "sleep 10; and echo \"beep\"" & but, although "sleep 10; and echo \"beep\"" worked, this was not run in background (although I received a completion of task warning). I guess it is a bug. 2014-10-30 17:43 GMT+01:00 Greg Reagle <greg.rea...@umbc.edu>: > On Thu, Oct 30, 2014, at 12:32 PM, Glenn Jackman wrote: > > begin; sleep 10; and beep; end & > > > > should do it. > > I get a syntax error with fish 2.1.1: > fish: Could not locate end of block.
