My guess is that you are running Ubuntu or Debian with a package that has incorrectly-included JQuery. See https://github.com/fish-shell/fish-shell/issues/1847 and https://github.com/fish-shell/fish-shell/issues/1860 for information on the problem and how to fix it. New Debian packages do not have this problem; Ubuntu is still shipping problematic packages in some distributions.
