After a space, pressing Alt+Up will insert the last parameter of the last
command - and you'll be able to see if that's what you want before pressing
Enter.
Additional presses will cycle through all words in history backwards (2nd
to last word of last command, ..., first word of last command, last word of
2nd to last command, ...)
But that's simply a special case of its search semantics - to reuse an old
word it's faster to type a substring of the word and then pressing Alt+Up
will cycle through words that match it.
