I tried to reproduce these steps and indeed I succeeded.
When looking for the keybinding "ALT+L" however I´m still at a loss as
to see where the "ALT" part comes into play.
> bind | fgrep '\el'
The "\e" part denotes the escape character I think. *However*: when
looking at //usr/share/fish/functions/__fish_list_current_token.fish/
I indeed found the comments:
/# This function is typically bound to Alt-L, it is used to list the
contents//
//# of the directory under the cursor
