is more important
than content.
Its all collapsed: We are all
walking corpses.

Who is up
for a new religion?
Our new martyr
is the headlights
through the rain tapped windows.
Our new Buddha
is the light upon the sea
and the smile of the girl
with crooked teeth
but gorgeous lips.
Who is up
for a new religion:
Breath is your mass.
The meditation
is your heart beat-
the pilgrimage
is from your morning bed
to your evening bed.
God is somewhere, but
we'd have to be content
with the simplicity
of awed and aching wonder.
