Did you see me, on the curb?
Waiting for signals
to enter the stream
as solitude after solitude
wrapped in steel rolls by?

I can close my eyes
from four inches above
your additional pavement
from this sidewalk,
but there is no safety
anywhere, anymore.

The light turns green
the people move,
the cars stand silent
and still, vibrating
alone in their cabins
unable to be touched.

There's nothing we can do
to fix a single thing,
there's nothing we can do,
there is no safety
anymore.

Signals come, the cars they go-
did you see me, on the curb?
Watching you travel
from there to there
only interested in your
in-betweens.

The light turns red,
I close my eyes
I jump from the curb
falling four inches
into your world.

There is no safety anymore,
there is no way to fix
a solitary thing,
there is no way to fix
these solitary things.
