standing next to this,
spilling a thousand crumbs of this,
i filed you away, today.
i tucked you in to a neat, well-kept row
and, as the sounds of tragic euphoria
flowed from a faraway speaker
my body revolted, rebelled,
and i stopped existing on this plane.

see, it's just that easy, sometimes.
the winds crack and the sky lets loose
all the blue and bright you can bear,
and you say you don't want to, anymore,
and then you just, don't.

it's better here anyway, i say,
i can watch through twisted glass
and billowing curtains
the plot play out, play out beautifully,
and they tell me that soon i'll just be
a million flowers.
and the vibrations i used to feel so clearly
that chord of hopeful velocity
rings alone in space,
rings absolutely alone in space.
