Spiders and flies: you have heard all
about it, no?
This afternoon I saw the
eating
and the capture occur
for the first time in my twenty
four
years of having the required senses
and the required proximity to spiders
and flies.
She has jaggad pinpoints at the
terminus
of her leggy self, and she's a bubbly
one. Mr Fly,
you can see the tremors
in him, despite species
size.
She has climbed up, he is
grabbing
and now I am shaking the web
window,
and I bang on but it's no
good.
Through them and beyond is the white
mist of sky,
and the tumbled hills of
Wales,
all careening into this tiny
point
where as she is eating
him
I turn
and they both fall
from their mutual
efforts.
Not a metaphor but the moment
itself.
