it drew me down, on to the cliffs
to look out on a panoramic view of paradise
the train station held aloft
above the white sandy beach
it would call to me, and
I'd forget that I was on my way to school,
running down the steep salt worn stairs
I'd stay all day
until the 3:20 train would be pulling back in.
armed with a notebook and a pen
missing someone I had not yet met
I pulled memories out of the locals
as they smiled by, and would throw
a stick to the odd dog who
understood my need for nothing
