Different exchanges may work on different kind of orders and thus can define the order status accordingly. FIX Protocol has orderstatus valid values in the basket of Order status tag but than you have to see if the options avialable do match with what Exchange sends. Also in may cases the OMS can have its own defined valid values of Order Status but that generally would be addition to what Exchange sends. In case you don't have mapping with FIX values than thats the decision whether you differ slightly with protocol and ask the concern connecting party to make changes in the data dictionaries for valid values or you use FIX value option and redefined its meaning and share the meaning with the connecting party.
