Kenny Stone, a senior developer at Connamara, will be presenting "The Erlang
Stock Exchange", a discussion about his efforts to build a matching engine in
Erlang. Erlang is a compelling technology choice for the trading industry - it
offers a way to build massively concurrent, distributed, fault tolerant
systems. As part of this effort, Connamara has also developed the world's
first commercially available Erlang FIX engine.

About Erlang

Erlang's strengths match the demands of today's technology needs. As server
hardware continues to add more cores instead of faster processors, throwing new
hardware at a problem is no longer the easy fix it used to be. Erlang's
concurrency model scales seamlessly and automatically for each processor core
available in a server. Erlang also offers the ability to easily distribute
nodes across multiple servers. The messaging technology in Erlang allows a
program to start on a single server and move to a distributed model with almost
no changes in the underlying source code. It's this unique combination -
massive concurrency and distribution - that makes Erlang a great fit for
today's trading problems.
