Well, we are finally home and almost unpacked. Got home in the
small hours of Sunday morning and stayed up talking to the farm sitter
for a couple hours. Our old Arab had a colic while we were away but is
doing well.
John and I sure had a great time visiting the Fjord folks on the
west coast!! We are so grateful to those who opened their homes and
barns to us and let us pet and feed carrots to their Fjordies!! And I
am glad to see that my beasty is not the only one who enjoys a good mud
bath whenever visitors are expected.
I'm sorry we did not have time to see everyone who offered us the
chance, but one week is just not long enough! The time seemed to fly
by. At least I got to spend a little time with my niece in Tacoma; we
don't get to visit very often since she's been stationed there at Fort
Lewis.
We took lots of pictures and hope to have some of them uploaded to
either our webshots photo albums or put on the TOG webpage soon.
It was a great trip, but we are glad to be home again with our own
grumpy Fjord, Kilar (who seems not to have missed us at all; the farm
sitter kept him in carrots while we were gone). At least the other two
nickered to us when we saw them. And of course, Wee Willy had to run up
for a kiss to welcome us back.
And Gunnar is not a grumpy boy!! He was more than happy to smooze
with us when he found out there were carrots involved. Don't know how
he figured out about the tail rubs, but our Arab is like that and just
turns his rump to me when he needs his hind end scratched :-) Charley
sure looked great also! He has quite the prance and dance for a
'mature' fellow. Showing off for strangers maybe. I hope he is
recovering well from whatever was bothering him.
We also visited with Kristin and Rory Miller in Chehalis with their
4 fjords, Saundra and Lana and their foals, Liv and Silje and with
Michael Melbye and Jean in Eatonville and their herd of 7 beautiful,
wonderful furry Fjords. We just had such a great time!!!
THANK YOU to all of you on the west coast who offered to let us get our
Fjord fix while we were visiting! I just wish we could have visited
everyone. Fjord people are just so wonderfully friendly and sharing.
