Hello everyone .. This is to let those of you not on my current distribution
list about the status of preparations for the Ontario Show (Oct 2-3), about
1/2 hr north east of Toronto. Registration forms and those for
class/division sponsorship, plus advertising in the Program will be
available on my website www.wakerobinfarm.ca tomorrow (sooner, if Lori
Albrough, who is kindly doing a final revision of classes, etc, can get it
done faster!

THE OFHS IS GROWING ! This year we have a significantly bigger list of
riding and driving classes, along with ridden/driven dressage tests and a
draft class. And several new fun events , like a costume class, gamblers
choice, and a barrel race which are not part of the 5 required to be in the
running for a Division championship.
I am indebted to those of you who have slaved over regional show programs in
the past, without whom I"d never have been able to put together the program
we now have planned for the fall.
DUTCH TREAT In addition, whereas last year we had an excellent American
Judge, Karen Maas, who launched the show in its 2nd year and new location,
THIS YEAR .. we are really excited to have been able to secure Bob van Bon,
from the Dutch Studbook, to judge the Halter and Driving Classes. We will
have also have local officials on hand to judge pleasure riding, equitation
and hunter classes, as well as the dressage tests. Next year, we are
already starting to work on getting a Norwegian Judge to help with the joint
celebrations of their 100 yr anniversary of the founding of Norway and
Alberta.

Finally, the Division awards and Gr. Ch, Reserve Gr Ch (High Points) awards
will be handed out by the Norwegian Embassy).

SHOW-RELATED MARKETING OPPORTUNITIES Canadian readers of Horse and Country
magazine will also see ads and a short article in the September issue, as
well as a feature on the Fjordhorse which will be distributed to the over
350,000 visitors from all over N. America, to the Royal Winter Fair (horse
show) in Toronto in November.

If any of you would like to list your farm in the full page Ad and 1 page
article for the September issue of H&C, (to be distributed free at Spruce
Meadows) please email me privately. The cost will decrease with the number
of farms advertising. We need to know if you would like to be mentioned, by
the end of July.

SHARED FUNDING AVAILABLE If you decide you want to place your own 1/2 or
full page ad for your farm/horses or servicies/products, in Horse and
Country, you can apply for up to half the cost, via the NFHR COOP Program
(Members only). Again, email me if ou want to know more.

NOT YOUR TRADITIONAL VIEW OF THE FJORDHORSE Fjords are taking the centre
stage in a number of ways in Canada this year. The articles I am
writing/coordinating, will focus on the versatility of the breed, and the
individuals who are taking their horses to the top, competing with other
breeds, in different disciplines. But I won't forget to mention the sweet
temperment and strong appeal for people to whom the Fjord is the ultimate
'family horse".

If you have suggestions as to who or what should be included in these
articles, please send them along.

ADVERTISING IN THE SHOW PROGRAM .. Finally, I believe that the interest
created by the Show, the articles and the distribution of H&C at the Royal,
will inspire a number of people to consider purchasing a Fjord - and they
will look on both sides of the border. Forms for purchasing ad space in the
Program this year are also available on the web site.

Hoping to see many more of you from neighbouring provinces and states up
here for the Show, Oct 2-3.

Happy Fjording ..
